Unable to create pull-based consumer

Hi! first of all, thanks for creating this great library.

I tried to create pull-based consumer using it but it seems that it only works with the push-based one. I'd like to confirm whether you're aware of this and going to support this.

Yes, I am aware of that. pull based consumer is not currently supported.

I am currently quite busy with other projects, but will look into this later when I got time.

Pull requests are always welcome if anyone wants to contribute
