I deeply love this. However sometimes I use it to trigger the command modal and then change my mind. I keep hitting shift shift again to make it go away. Then I have to stretch the pinky up Al the way to the escape key. On my custom keyboard that’s fine. On my laptop, I have to slow down to make sure I target the tiny esc chicklet key. Just firing shift shift again would be amazing.

That's a good idea. Since I want to keep it general I'll see if I can have it execute different commands based on the current context (i.e. if you have the command modal open it execute the command to close it instead of opening it).
I haven't worked on obsidian plugins in a while so I'll first have to get back into it (though I don't think it should take very long) but until then: if you are using the 'better command palette' plugin, it has a feature where you can close it by pressing backspace if the text field is empty, I hope that helps.
