failed to connect to mqtt broker password with ! a problem?

thanks for this great peace of software.
I got it to work as a docker and connection to a mosquitto server without user and password
it connects and is sending data to mqtt like a charm :-)

But in my productive mosquitto server I can't connect :-(
username: mqttuser
password is eg like this abc!def with a ! inside
I used "abc!def" but can't connect
log gives:
2024-10-24 20:18:54,538 ERROR: Failed to connect to MQTT Broker (192.168.1.51:1883, user: "mqttuser"): 5

Don't know what I am doing wrong... or what can it be?

Any hint will be welcome

got it to work i used " for the enviorment and this was the mistake. Sorry for opening the "issue"
