Giving a view a background color under iOS 8 causes screen to fill with said color #162

Just getting started with Freestyle and per the README tried applying a background color to a view. I ended up with a strange behavior on iOS 8 only where the color would fill the screen. In the attached demo it took some interaction to cause this but in other scenarios I would see it happen instantly (like when my first view was a navigation view controller holding a table view controller.

If there is a known workaround or if I am doing something wrong, please let me know. Thanks.
