creating blocks

Hey,
I'm an intern working with the PandAbox and I'm currently at a point, where I probably have to design my own blocks. Even though there is some documentation about how to create a block, for me as a complete beginner, it's hard to figure out.
Now if I understand correctly, I definitely need the .block.ini file, as well as the the .vhd file to create a block, but are the timing.ini and the sim.py, also necessary?
Also if I created all these files, how do I get the block on the PandA?
I also found this powerpoint (https://www.ohwr.org/project/ohr-meta/wikis/uploads/dba0adb430ae1d2e32d57f0b76a3dcff/TUAPP05_talk.pptx) from glennchid, where he writes about jinja2, but I can't find anything about that in the docs.
