This in-person introduction to R workshop will be run across two sessions of 2 hours and will be taught by Murray Cadzow and Matt Bixley from the Dept of Biochemistry.
The contents for this hands on workshop is derived from the Data Carpentry R ecology lessons and is designed specifically to be useful for 4th year students wanting to start using R for data analysis.
Expected prior knowledge: NONE
Required software: R (ideally v4.0+) and RStudio (v1.3+)Link to setup instructions
By attending the two sessions, learners should come away understanding:
- Basic operations and syntax of R
- How to create and work within a project
- How to call functions.
- Find how to get help.
- Create scripts for code reuse.
- How to read data into R.
- How to subset and create summaries from data.
- How to create and customise plots in R with ggplot2.
A laptop is required to participate
