we need redirections hot linkable for static assets like images
the jekyll-redirect plugins create a new intermediate HTML page all forwarding
not useful for images or other static resources

Concise explanation of the problem

To use redirects on Cloudflare Pages, declare your redirects in a plain text file called _redirects without a file extension in the output folder of your project. The build output folder is project-specific, so the _redirects file should not always be in the repository's root directory. Changes to redirects will be updated on your website at build time, so make sure you commit and push the file to trigger a new build each time you update redirects.

version of ruby used over there to build is simply outdated

we will simply build it ourselves w/ our toolchain, and then we send the built final product to them

along w/ the _redirects file and they can just host the stuff for us rather than have them heavy-lifting, i think that will be prefferable
