Charles University, Faculty of Law, Thesis Word Template

TL;DR:

  • DOWNLOAD the standard version (close to the original one)
  • DOWNLOAD the alternative version (adjusted typography)

General

Since the official template is not usable, I have decided to make my own version of it that would be as close as possible to the original one. At the top of that, I have made a better-looking version that implements the suggestions from Typography for Lawyers.

I have made it primarily for Rigorosum thesis, but it can also be used for the Master's and Doctoral ones. You just have to change some of the fields; there should be drop-down lists for them. The original templates can be found on the official website.

Please, do not reupload the template. Link this repository instead. I suppose I will be updating it, so let's all have the latest version.

There will be two files – docx and dotx. Use preferably dotx.

Instructions

General

There are several drop-down lists that you should deal with:

  1. Author
    • This will also change the Author field in the doc info.
  2. Název práce
    • This will also change the Title field in the doc info.
  3. Podnázev práce
    • If there is any.
  4. Rigorózní/diplomová/disertační práce
  5. Pověřený akademický pracovník/Vedoucí diplomové práce/Školitel
    • Master's: Vedoucí diplomové práce
    • Rigorosum: Pověřený akademický pracovník
    • Doctoral: Školitel
  6. Tematický okruh/Katedra/Studijní program
    • Master's: Katedra
    • Rigorosum: Tematický okruh
    • Doctoral: Studijní program
  7. Datum vypracování práce
    • Make sure to update the date field on the next page (Čestné prohlášení).
  8. vypracoval/a
  9. rigorozant/rigorozantka/diplomant/diplomantka/disertant/disertantka
  10. Several "[Type here]" fields (easy to find)

Standard Template

There are several styles on the style pane:

  1. Text Odstavce (use this for the paragraph text, not Normal)
  2. Nečíslovaný nadpis
  3. Heading (Nadpis) 1
  4. Heading (Nadpis) 2
  5. Heading (Nadpis) 3
  6. Položka v seznamu literatury
  7. Typ zdroje v seznamu literatury

Use them, and you should be fine.

Alternative Template

There are several styles on the style pane:

  1. První odstavec (use this for the first paragraph)
  2. Další odstavce (use this for the next paragraphs)
  3. Nečíslovaný nadpis
  4. Heading (Nadpis) 1
  5. Heading (Nadpis) 2
  6. Heading (Nadpis) 3
  7. Položka v seznamu literatury
  8. Typ zdroje v seznamu literatury
  9. První sloupec v tabulce
  10. Text v tabulce

Use them, and you should be fine.

Citations

You can use my Zotero style for full-note ISO-690 that is available in the official repository (on GitHub here) if you want to automate the citations. (Excluding the cases and legislation, unfortunately.)

You will have to change the "Seznam použité literatury", "Seznam použitých internetových zdrojů", and "Seznam ostatních zdrojů" headings to something like "Seznam použité literatury a internetových zdrojů" and have the citations altogether. Zotero does not support the categorization of the sources by the item types since it is quite useless.

Development

Since it is a Word template and it is not possible to check the code, do not make pull requests. Open issues instead if you find any.
