The forward slash '/' at the beginning of a search term is used to specify regex search, so maybe that is interfering with using search terms that legitimately contain a forward slash (i.e. network strings)

Looks like this may not be related to the regex search feature after all. Simply removing all instances of / from the search DSL doesn't seem to fix the problem.
