Allow "asynchronous" ADC conversion #2

That is, allow a call to be made to the ADC to begin a conversion and then a separate call to retrieve the results so the processor isn't tied up waiting for the conversion to happen. I realize it's pretty quick, but it would still be nice to not have to wait.
