The stowaway perk spawned me into a room with 4 crates and no doors, in science i think.

This is a consequence of the stowaway quirk. I've personally been spawned in The Ark of Covenant, a chest on z-level 3 of Icebox out in the wastes, and in a locker inside a pirateship on the station z-level. If the container is on what's considered the station z-levels you are able to spawn in them. This also means that a latejoin stowaway is very likely to end up in the coffin machine in Cargo.
