Self spells randomly turning into AOE spells even when I don't have the modifier unlocked.

Hey, so I'm not sure if this is a dead topic or not, but I tried making a simple healing spell (Self - Regeneration) and when I cast it, the spell just spewed out some particles around me. I put it back into the inscription table and for some reason the self modifier had become an AOE modifier. Even though I'm not even high enough level to get AOE. This even happened to a projectile - light spell I tried to make. Some help would be very apricated. Thank you.
