Have been actually got the chance to experience the mod deeper now, I just want to share some thoughts for the new dev? or if Mithion is interested in the thoughts of implementing these, so I'll just post them here.

I got some spells idea that I thought should have been present in the mod maybe? or probably this just applies to me, which might prove to be a challenge to mod.

  • The first spell is a homing shape.
Exactly like the name implies, it chases the entity close to it, add to that maybe like some modifiers for what entity to look for, so without the modifier it chases anything close, but with modifier it only chase that modifier type, and maybe to expand more on this, make the modifier have an effect to make spells only apply to that entity (so if other spell shapes use the modifier, the effect is to do just that)
  • Another shape to add to that is a lingering shape.
This shape is used like a modifier but it is not, because of how the mod is made this fits into the shape category more, because you can add duration modifier to it. So the spell is different than other shapes because you need to have prior shape before adding this, you know when you want to drown a mob with zone but only that mob alone, this shape do just that. So maybe in making the mod, the theory is when the entity is hit with the spell, this creates another invisible tileentity that stays for a while, following the entity, and applying the spell that lingers for awhile (or maybe there is another method).

I... didn't realize I wrote quite a long post, just read the first line of each I think should give an idea 😃 (if this were 9gag I would say something else).

  1. The closest thing there is at the moment is a chain spell, which seeks out up to two other targets (without modifiers) adjacent to where it hits. It would be nice to have a homing shape or modifier, and I can see it producing some interesting results.

  2. When I read the first line, my first thought wasn't at all what you said. My thought was a spell (like a projectile or something of the like) that left a lingering trail behind it, like a sort of magical tripwire or something, that applied effects when you crossed that trail. Could be very interesting if combined with the bounce modifier and/or gravity. The second thought was a spell that lingered on its target, periodically applying its effect.

  3. MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCC and also three makes a list make sense.

I'm not too sure if new spell shapes are plausible right now, but these would be pretty neat additions nevertheless!

Mithion was actually just messing around with a homing component a few days ago.
And there are lingering modifiers called Duration.

Oh man, I can't wait to see those, wish I had known where to check this stuff, it's like an exclusive update info 😆

Well no, duration is a modifier that modifies the time for shapes like zone and wall, the spell I was talking about is exactly like what jawdylawdy says, it's a shape spell, not a modifier, that lingers on that specific target, like a zone that stays only on that target.

Haha maybe just the first line does confuse people, and that idea for a trail component is a good idea too, made me thought of another spell like a redstone trail component, so you can use redstone signal that is invisible to the eye, but with true sight you can see them? (flying red stone signal everyone?), combined with your trail shape that applies spell on each block the spell passes, this can be a great combination to make an advanced mechanisms

Yeah and I don't think these can be implemented anytime soon, unless... (Challenge accepted?)
