In ver 0.47.16, when personnel change to Veteran or Elite status, they usually get a random ability upgrade. Often they get weapon specific abilities that they are not using (ie. MRM specialty when they pilot a unit with only lasers). It would make more sense if the weapon specialties were limited to weapon types currently in use.
