#73 changed behavior so that the Spectre-mitigation MSVC libraries were preferred over the 'regular' MSVC libraries when requested. And I'm now not sure if that's a good idea. The main motivation was to be able to fall-back to the regular libraries when Spectre-equivalents were not present. My use-case was ASAN, but - with hindsight - Spectre + ASAN isn't really a valid combination.
But falling back sounds like it could be a recipe for disaster - allowing people to think they're building with the Spectre-mitigated ATLMFC libs, when they're falling back based on missing installation pieces. I think I'll probably tweak the behavior again... If anyone wants to chime in with thoughts, feel free...
