The purpose of Chargeback is to determine the cost of a set of VMs, container images and projects, or configured systems based on the CPU, Memory or Disk metrics collected for those objects. Chargeback rates can be defined for different tiers of metrics, and those rates are applied to the actual metrics collected over the last 30 days, producing a report of the cost. One common example use case for this might be charging different departments of your company based on their usage. If the objects are tagged by department then you can create a monthly chargeback report that calculates the cost by department.
