These should be seperate issues.

To answer the Windows maintenance question - I would like to get more eyes on that part of the library because I don't personally use Windows and do not intend to do so even from within the confines of a virtual machine.

There are currently several pull requests which implement the readouts you've requested but I haven't reviewed them in full yet.
