This game mode can be an extension of any or one of the current modes(nade fight, classic and classes).

Description

  • Initially, each team has their territory within a radius of their flag.
  • The domination blocks be placed to extend some team's territory but they can be placed only within their current territory. Each team's domination block can extend that team's territory within a given radius.
  • Once a flag is inside some enemy team's territory, it can be stolen. Otherwise it cannot be stolen.
  • Domination blocks are team specific. E.g. Red's domination blocks, or blue's

Additional notes

  • The radius each domination block extends is to be determined
  • Can a domination block be placed in some other team's territory? It has to be determined
  • A map must be small enough and with enough domination blocks in chest so that the game can end in a reasonable time
  • The radius each flag covers is to be determined. It is obvious that if domination blocks can be placed only in neutral areas, the extend radius of doors must be a reasonable amount bigger than the radius flag cover.
  • What perks does digging domination blocks of enemies have?

These notes are almost a draft. Not fully baked, yet. Suggestions are very welcome.

An alright idea but I think there should be another way of conquering land instead of using doors.

If the territory each door claims is big enough, each team could build small camps with team doors and get closer to the enemy flag. Reminds me of the real wars in history in which an army had to get one city after another till they reached the capital xD

The team door node needs to be replaced with something else, it's ok for modes to have their own nodes

If I may ask, why not doors and why something else?

If I may ask, why not doors any why something else?

Doors are for allowing/preventing walking through gaps in walls, not claiming territory

@LoneWolfHT The proposal has been updated and I think now you can remove the Action needed label :)

Marking as WIP/draft for now, it still needs fleshing out before implementation can be considered

What else does it need before we consider implementation, if I may ask? I mean other than initial flag territory claim radius and domination block territory claim.

I guess you could implement it now, and it might be easier that way, but expect to do a lot of rewriting as issues are found

About the parameters, how about making them related to map size? It should produce more sensible results than a constant radius size.

You could try that. I'm not particularly excited by this mode idea (partly because it doesn't remind me of any games I've ever played) so it's harder to come up with ideas for it.

There is always a first time ;)
