I'm trying to compile a simple blink example using Arduino 1.8.1 on Windows 10.

I get the following error:

The IDE is using avr-gcc 4.8.1 instead of 4.9.2. See MightyCore issue #40.

Thanks for your fast response!

There was an older avr-gcc in "..AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\tools\avr-gcc". I deleted that folder and can now compile without errors.

Thanks for the solution , I also had the same issue. I found 2 directories under my folder
C:\My Documents\Circuits\Software\arduino-1.8.5\portable\packages\arduino\tools\avr-gcc\4.9.2-atmel3.5.4-arduino2
AND
C:\My Documents\Circuits\Software\arduino-1.8.5\portable\packages\arduino\tools\avr-gcc\4.8.1-arduino5
I deleted the one with 4.8.1-arduino5. I had to restart the IDE for this change to take effect. It worked well then.
