what's the difference between a markup language and a configuration language? |
Markup language can be used to mean many things: HTML is one for example. |
I believe the unifying operative theme with them is that they're human friendly, structured data formats. For example, HCL says their configuration language format is designed to be both human writable, as well as machine readable. JSON is the common denominator as a reference language it seems, eg HCL's compatibility with it and as the most common API language. And a definition I found for JSON is "a standard text-based format for representing structured data based on JavaScript object syntax". Would you be open to using a name like KSDF? (Keats' Structured Data Format) |
To be honest I quite like SCL so I'm unlikely to change it. SDF means homeless people in French and looking at https://developers.google.com/search/docs/guides/intro-structured-data#structured-data-format is not really the same |
toml and yaml both end in ml and have a vowel preceding it.
caml or coml seem like good names. I like caml. 🐫
