It looks like a new tag in Gadfly will fix this
In the meanwhile use: pkg> add Gadfly#master

Ah thanks -- note there was also a Type Piracy issue (think it was Colorant) in ImageCore.jl that caused problems in Caesar.jl and RoMEPlotting.jl. See there is a new ImageCore.jl tag (8 days) which is part of what Gadfly.jl was waiting on, see discussion here:
