npm install in windows 8.1 problem

I'm unable to use the command 'npm install command it is showing a lot of errors and i can't figure it out,I'm taking Laravel 5 tutorials by Jeffrey Way and he even told that sometime this command won't work and you can then use 'sudo npm install',but i on Windows and stuck on this issue...
