Notes

  • Correct note taker for last meeting (was Mike K). Also, Kirsta's hours spent on the Foundation were incorrect
  • Update on sprint planning: (Kirsta) Looping back! We've consulted with Tech Call, TAG, going to ICG next week, and we seem to be moving along together. For instance, next week's Open Meeting: will be issue cleanup and community conversation. ** Islandora Issue Cleanup and Roadmap Document: contains all issues tagged by Kirsta, and includes the Features Parity List / ICG Report / Survey. In a linked document from there, the requests from those documents are harmonized ** Revised Github Issue Management Procedure: contains minutia for how to manage issues in github including a tag migration plan.
  • Feedback: It's good to have people review the issues, which have been expressed in a number of ways.
  • What's the ICC's role in developing a backlog/roadmap and its implementation? Response: This is not being done by the event planning committee - organizing issues, doing a community sprint, but not making an Islandora roadmap.
  • Is hiring on hold until the sprint happens? Who is deciding on the roles that need to be filled? Leadership group is hoping to come to internal alignment
  • Is this a top-down vs bottom-up vision of how to proceed?
  • Since Jenna and Arryn have both left, what are we doing? We are trying to find finances.
  • While a part-time job is not working as a community manager role, we discussed whether we can make a hire (e.g. for admin). Many roles are not clear in the community right now, we need to understand these to be effective (TAG, ICC).
  • Are we considering rearranging the interest groups too? What do we need to get into where we want to go?
  • Can groups kind of "reeinvision themselves"? Even ICC doesn't have a clear mandate. Start with a Catalogue of what we're doing.
  • Make sure that the open meetings still offer "open" space, for the community to find help with islandora itself, and presentations from members of the community. not working groups for fixing the community. Stay light, in some regard. In the long term this should happen, the proposals for the next few meetings are fine. Maybe cordon off some time for "existential questions" and have the rest to be "open". Use open meetings to provide "ins" to the community. hopefully get some new people involved.
  • Planning group thinks they're doing sprint (this year, timing TBD) and community discussions. Not a full on Islandora Roadmap.
  • Kirsta will help by being a bridge between Leadership Group and ICC.
  • How to delegate people to do some admin tasks - more as wranglers / accountability. A chair? An open sub-group? event planning subcommittees e.g. convention planning happened with a subgroup of the ICC.
  • Share the Event Planning meetings more openly, encourage more ICC members to join.
  • Do we have an official roster of who is in ICC?
  • Noah uses "L10" to track things, we could demo this next meeting
