- Chair: Drew Heles
- Notes: Kirsta Stapelfeldt (sorry I interleaved the notes with the agenda)
Per: Schedule
Drew Heles, Kirsta Stapelfeldt, Amy Blau, Mike Kemezis, Mirko Hanke, Ian Song, Bethany Seeger
- Kirsta: Update on Sprint planning and Governance Redux doc
- Drew brought up covering both the political and practical roles of a Tech lead. General appetite for an approach towards practical needs (code develop) that sent development out to tender (bounties on features). For the political roles, general consensus that we need to ensure that the weight of 'deciding' architecture or brokering consensus should not rest on the Tech Lead shoulders alone.
- Amy pointed out the significance of the roadmap. Understanding how we develop the high-level vision of Islandora would be very important to sort out in this structure. Kirsta will add section on Roadmap to governance document at the bottom to reiterate who is responsible for Roadmap as a place to start. General recognition that we have lots of logistics to sort out if we take these approaches.
- Bethany notes that we call non-committers writing code "contributors" - may want to change the nomenclature to ensure there is limited confusion. Agree this is a great suggestion.
- Nothing to report
- Metadata IG (Rosie) - No reps
- IR interest group (Bryan or Don) - Amy has made additions to use cases. No recent meeting.
- ISLE Interest Group (Danny or Bryan) - No representations
- Documentation Interest Group (Amy/Yamil, Melissa, or Mirko) - conveners have met to plan the next meeting. Discussion about a possible "parking lot" (high level TOC to identify gaps). DIG meeting will happen next week. Also talking about how to manage this with amount of people that are coming to the DIG meetings regularly. Talking about maybe making a presentation in the open meeting.
- Open Meeting on Oct 26th
- ca. 30 attendees
- recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhPgFkJrqcY - docker presentation was recorded for the afternoon session.
- General positive feedback about how this went, but we need to give people better heads up for sessions like the one that happened in the afternoon so they know what they are responsible for reading and reviewing materials ahead of time. KS will take feedback to Open Event planning group.
- Next event dates? - November Open meeting
- Amongst the people attending today, we felt that it would be good to skip the December meeting. Discussion here about how to decide this (something we have to discuss when redoing the Terms of Reference). If you are reading these notes and really want to run an open event meeting in December, please contact any of the attendees above by email or slack, write [email protected] (Which Kirsta is monitoring) or otherwise make your opinion known.
Discussion
- Event ideas:
- running/managing/maintaining ISLE - could keep momentum going. Kubernetes could be an excellent topic. "Isle in Production"
- Documentation: how to use sandbox to test/configure and document it; how to write documentation
- Sprint related item?
- Notes from open meeting suggest future topics: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RDxhHN7aMMTPmPgcfkh-6M22mIaBXcsy4XDlpcaf9Ac/edit#heading=h.ajaol7mqke4q
- Chair: Drew Heles
