Display people at home page

Hello,
I am using the academic theme for my website. I wanted to display people on the home page but it does not work. Already I added news and project home page by creating md file in content/home. Regarding people, the information of each people is in the authors' folder, and in the people folder there are only index.md and people.md file. how can I display people on the home page?
