Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Reference issues are Homebrew/legacy-homebrew#30815 and Homebrew/legacy-homebrew#30749. There seems not to be any active discussion or initiative for a new bundle, but the merged patch Homebrew/legacy-homebrew@c0b99c0 suggests that they intend to provide a replacement maintained by core; no timeline is provided.

Moving away from the Brewfile/Caskfile is easy, as it consists of little more than a trimmed shell script. I would wait for Homebrew to clarify their intentions before changing our recommendation.
