Is it possible to get scrcpy over hdmi? I know this might be a stupid question but I'm getting really tired of Windows and my Samsung galaxy S20 FE is waayyyy more powerful than my laptop. I'm looking for a way to get a better Samsung Dex experience on the laptop, if possible. Anyone who can help please. Would really appreciate it.

I'm in a similar situation. scrcpy works great if I want my phone to just be a window on my laptop, but I'd like to use the laptop as a mouse+keyboard+screen for Samsung Dex (and/or Android Desktop). Some way to activate "desktop mode" and fullscreen it would be awesome. Otherwise I'd need to buy a portable keyboard, mouse, portable monitor, etc..

  1. Download Samsung Dex for PC https://www.samsung.com/uk/apps/samsung-dex/
  2. Connect your phone to your PC

It allows running Dex in a window or in fullscreen on Windows and macOS.

@goforu , I'm also looking into the possibility to use DeX on macOS. Couple of methods i've found:

  1. Use virtualization like UTM to install Windows 10 and the official DeX app on that. Works also on M1+ Macs while using Windows ARM image. A bit clumsy to run whole Windows for that experience.
  2. Use CrossOver from CodeWeavers to install the DeX app. It's unable to detect USB connections but it does allow for wireless DeX, allowing you to start the DeX session on the phone and then starting a separate scrcpy --forward-all-clicks --display 2 to actually use the DeX session. Other than not being able to show protected content, it works quite well.

Hope this helps. Cheers!
