To the best of our knowledge, the individual punning jokes in the data are short enough that they are not eligible for copyright. (See for example the legal opinions expressed in the BBC News article "Who, What, Why: Can a joke be copyrighted?") However, copyright may persist in the overall compilation of punning jokes, and in the compilations of punning jokes from which our own compilation is derived.
