In regards to topics for questions, we ask the participants on the call to consider the Community Guidelines when posing questions to the subject matter experts.

2159 | Amend consent duration Rule 4.26 and 4.14 states that the maximum duration for a consent is 12 months. I just amended my consent with one of the top 4 banks and I noticed they just add on the new duration to today's date. For example : 1. On 19/10/23 I created a consent with a 3 month duration. I checked my consent dashboard and it showed the sharing period as 19/10/23 - 19/1/24 2. Today is 24/10/23. I amended the consent I created from step 1. I selected the new duration of 3 months. I checked my consent dashboard and it showed the sharing period as 19/10/23 - 23/1/24 Shouldn't the expiry date be based on the original consent date of 19/1/24 ? Further to my initial question, when a customer amends the duration of their consent, I believe they should be allowed to shorten their sharing duration or lengthen it. Similar to adding and removing accounts and scopes. On 24/10/23 I went back to the same ADR which I provided the original consent from step 1 above. I amended my consent by selecting a 12 month sharing period. This is what I got : a) Bank1 shows my new sharing period as 19/10/23 - 24/10/24 ==> this is more than the allowed 12 months sharing allowed as per rule 4.26 and 4.14 b) Bank2 shows my new sharing period as 24/10/23 - 24/10/14 c) ADR shows my new sharing period as 19/10/23 - 24/10/24 ==> more than 12 months duration Some banks will update the original consent while others will expiry the original consent and create a new one. Regardless of which approach they use, I believe the consent amend journey should allow customers to shorten their consent duration too. At the moment, it appears it only allows them to lengthen them. For example, John created a consent to share his accounts for 1 year. Later on, he may want to shorten the sharing period to lets say 3 months. The current process doesn't allow for this. |

You may also like to provide feedback to Treasury during rules maintenance consultations which are run periodically. For reference, we note accredited data recipients may rather than must offer functionality to amend consent (see r 1.14(2A), 4.12B and 4.12C). |
