Problem Statement

Now that the authenticated part of CDR standards are implemented there is real world experience of the operation of the regime to identify where error handling and fault communication can be improved and standardised.

This item is designed to facilitate the consultation of improvements to error handling with a view to incorporation of these improvements into the standards.

This issue was first consulted on under Decision Proposal 068 - Enhanced Error Handling to gather feedback from participants on key considerations and viewpoints.

This lead to a second series of consultations:

• Decision Proposal 120 - CDR Error Codes for Enhanced Error Handling
• Decision Proposal 121 - Application of existing HTTP Error Response Codes to Enhanced Error Handling
• Decision Proposal 122 - Extension of Supported HTTP Response Codes for Enhanced Error Handling
• Decision Proposal 127 - CX Guidelines for Enhanced Error Handling

Based on feedback to the previous series of decision proposals and in conjunction with a series of community workshops held in 2020, the DSB has published an updated set of decision proposals. These DPs take into consideration community feedback, implementation considerations and a transition strategy.
