Something went wrong somewhere. I've got some very well done zombies on the campfire, I'm not sure if this is to do with loot zones or the new item modifier mechanics. Will add more details as and when I find them.
Edit: Just to be clear, these should be regular zombie corpses, not scorched zombies. I do believe they explode on death and shouldn't leave a corpse at all.
Edit2: It seems that zombie corpses in a fire get transformed into the equivalent of scorched, so I'm guessing something in that code can work on the corpse at least twice.
Edit3: Seems this has been a thing for a while. #16466 I'm guessing it was a more recent change that did something to the code here, I find it unlikely nobody noticed this before.

Roast corpses, check their damage state.

Never mind, I'd not noticed that second line in the description that repeats the unmodified base item. Not sure what the point of that is. This combination of unfamiliar mechanics confused me.
