Is your feature/tool request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently, when one locates and transfers all data for a duplicate specimen record, the image data is not transferred. I do understand that one would normally not want an herbarium sheet image transferred to a different herbarium. However, we are more and more linking field images or iNaturalist URLs or lab images to a record, that we would wish to transfer.
Describe the solution you'd like.
Add a button to choose "Transfer image data" as an option when transferring all data of a duplicate record. This would be useful in those cases where field/iNaturalist URL images are linked. If an herbarium voucher image is also present, it can be deleted.
Who else has expressed a desire for this feature/tool?
Matthew Yamamoto
When and how would this feature be used? What are some use cases?
Again, when field or iNaturalist (from an observation URL) images or even lab images (high magnification shots of plant parts) are linked to an herbarium record, one would have the option of transferring these to a duplicate specimen record.
Additional context
E.g., this record: https://cch2.org/portal/collections/individual/index.php?occid=6088646
was created at SDSU from one on OBS, for a duplicate specimen. However, the image data (iNaturalist observation in this case) was not included when selecting Transfer All Fields; these image data had to be manually entered after the fact.
