I know, spite issue report whatever, but I don't think fifty units of an extremely easy recipe should be able to delete a desword and an entire suit of armour and all of someone's clothing. In terms of cost/risk to reward that's completely out of line.

it definitely shouldn't.

Someone should really make this into some kind of status effect, and try to make it just less annoying to deal with (acid stacking, make it apply for ages before it starts to do any real damage)
