Request: modifications on interface layout

Currently we have the instance logo on top of the left sidebar, our profile picture and username on top of the right one, and the search box below.

(also there's an extra space, between logo and nav, due to an empty div between hidden search (for smaller screens) and "home" entry.)

I feel like it would make more sense to move the search bar at the bottom of the nav on left sidebar. That way everything related to navigation is on the same side and we don't have two inputs side by side ("search" and "compose")

On the right sidebar we could have the PP/username block, like it's currently done. Below that, the instance logo so that it acts as a "title" for when we'll have the instance-related links below.

The issue with putting the search bar down there is that it will require scrolling on some screens to see it + the dropdown would be placed on top of it which could feel weird

For the rightmost bar I totally agree with you :)

hmm, maybe you're right and search should be at the top... I felt it was more elegant to NOT have two input fields side by side (one for search, one for publishing)
