Markdown: conflict with Gutenberg blocks

Steps to reproduce the issue

1. Install and activate the Gutenberg plugin
2. Add a Text Columns block, add text in each column, click Update
3. Reload

What I expected

The Text Columns block to be displayed correctly

What happened instead

There's a message saying that the block content changed

Additionally, it strips out some of the markup. When converting pre-Gutenberg content into blocks, the conversion looks fine. Upon publication, the <p> tags were removed resulting in the content being displayed as one large block of text.

Reverting to a previous revision of the content, disabling Markdown for posts, and attempting again resulted in a proper conversion without the markup changes.

This is also an issue when migrating older content to Gutenberg. Because Markdown is not working the text will appear as one big blob without any paragraph separation or indentation (created in CSS with adjacent sibling selectors for p tags)
