Trigger: A hostile character starts any movement (including BOOST and other actions) inside one of your weapons’ THREAT.
Effect: Trigger OVERWATCH, immediately using that weapon to SKIRMISH against that character as a reaction, before they move
Vanguard 3 says
You may attack with Overwatch using CQB weapons when hostile characters enter, leave, or exit spaces within your Threat, no matter whether they started their movement there.
This implies two issues:
"when [] within your Threat" implies a change to the more specific over-watch trigger of "inside one of your weapons’ THREAT" so as to mean any weapons threat.
"attack with Overwatch using CQB weapons" implies a change to the binding of the overwatch's effect text "immediately using that weapon to SKIRMISH", especially when combined with the above, so as to mean any CQB weapon.
The repetition of "no matter whether they started their movement there." implies these two implications of the talent were unintended. But as this talent is more specific it gets messy.
The Solution:
I would rewrite it as:
You may attack with Overwatch using CQB weapons when hostile characters enter, leave, or exit spaces within one of your CQB weapons’ Threat, no matter whether they started their movement there.
Which fixes both issues by moving the limitation to the same place it would be in the modified trigger, and repeating the trigger's original words (e.g. overwatch already requires the triggering weapon be the one the skirmish is done with).
Unless of course this is as intended, in which case I will be quite happy with the buff to Vanguard.
