Comin' Right Up! doesn;t work

Activating the ability in battle removes 3 energy, but does not further prompt the player or affect any cards on the field.
Additionally, the gambler boss appears to use the ability even when all of his cards are transformed into coffins by Funeral Rites, with all of its listed effects.
