How popular would a verse memorisation system be?

I noticed one Bible app provided bible memorisation using the leitner system of learning. That was the first time I thought about including bible memorisation in a bible app. And the leitner approach is fairly good and not too hard to implement. It could be done manually with some labels right now.

Would it be worth including? On one level I feel this functionality is more useful than maps and commentaries combined!

I'm okay with this, but 99% sure I'm not going to implement it myself :-) I once made a command line app for memorizing bible verses.

Though in js side many things could be implemented easier than ever before. Perhaps this could be add-on feature too...

I think it would be a great idea. But along the lines of what Tuomas says, I think the feature should be enabled by user, or have a separate screen for it so that there would not be more menu options everywhere for those who don't want to use it.

I would definitely use one. Memorization is a good part of Bible study.
