so im banging my head off the wall with this.

I installed allsky on my PI4b last week, its running fine capturing data etc.

I thought id have a go at hosting a webpage and setting up my camera on it using filezilla as a FTP. I have searched and searched and cannot figure out what i am doing wrong. I was following patriot astros updated install but i get stuck at install/website.sh

I cant figure out where i am going wrong.

Commands are case sensitive, so you need to run ./remoteWebsiteInstall.sh. The ./ is an idiosyncrasy of Linux/Unix. Because the current working directory is not part of the $PATH, you have to specify a relative path to the command.

How are you logged into the Pi? The ^[[0;33 strings are supposed to make the text bold.

i am with sky and im logged into the pi on my desktop computer through wifi.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am guessing lftp is trying to perform an ftp connection with implicit TLS, but this server only supports FTP with explicit TLS. Implicit TLS means the connection is initiated as a TLS connection from the beginning. Explicit TLS means the initial connection is unencrypted, but upgraded to TLS during the conversation (similar to STARTTLS with smtp or ldap).

I can recreate the error like this: (notice the ftps:// url)

$ lftp ftps://ftp.annanallsky.co.uk:21
lftp ftp.annanallsky.co.uk:~> ls
ls: Fatal error: gnutls_handshake: An unexpected TLS packet was received.

In order to use explicit TLS with FTP: (using ftp:// url)

$ lftp
lftp :~> set ftp:ssl-force true
lftp :~> set ssl:verify-certificate no
lftp :~> connect ftp://ftp.annanallsky.co.uk:21
lftp ftp.annanallsky.co.uk:~> ls
ls: Login failed: 530 Login authentication failed

I honestly wish i knew what you were talking about! To rule out any mistakes on my part i reinstalled the software on the PI today and ran through the wiki instructions and came to the same conclusion. I also took out a different website host (inios) with a new FTP to try and it didnt resolve.

@shotscot, many people have to tell Allsky to add an ftp command or two in order to connect to their FTP server. This is discussed in the Troubleshooting -> Uploads documentation page. For example, I have to add set ssl:verify-certificate no to the FTP Commands setting in the WebUI for my IONOS server.

The testUpload.sh command is able to determine which commands are needed for most of the errors produced while connecting to a server, but the gnutls_handshake: An unexpected TLS packet was received error just started appearing a couple weeks ago and we haven't yet figured out what ftp command fixes it.

When we determine what's needed, I'll update testUpload.sh so it tells people what to do.

ahhh no problem at all! i've tried 3 methods sftp, fpt & ftps all resulting in 3 different errors. I also tried all three on ports 21 & 22. im unsure if that information helps at all but i thought id mention it! Thanks guys!

@shotscot, when we figure out the ftp command(s) to use, you'll add them to the FTP Commands setting in the WebUI.

Another user having the "gnutls_handshake: An unexpected TLS packet was received" problem was able to get it to work using the ftp Protocol. I just tested it to his server and only had to add set ssl:verify-certificate no to FTP Commands.

I used testUpload.sh --debug --website for testing. It shows me all the commands that go back and forth.

When I try using the ftps Protocol and get the TLS packet error, so I can reproduce it and try various fixes.

Any idea why the dialog screenshot above shows the escape codes for bold and color, rather than making the text bold and color?

never mind. The escape sequences are for a terminal window, not a dialog window.
