Status: This document is a draft of a proposed specification. should be updated to reflect that the spec has indeed been finalized.

Since the specification has been finalized, it is no longer a draft.

Subject: [wg-codec] AV1 Spec Update & unblocking the AV1 RTP Spec

Hello Everyone,

Various groups (IETF, W3C) are interested in referencing the AV1 RTP binding spec, but its official publication has long been held-up because of dependencies on the as-yet unpublished changes to the AV1 spec that were approved by the CWG 3-4 years ago.

Since the changes have been approved, I intend to move forward and prepare to publish the updated specification by the end of March 2024.

I am aware that we may receive further proposals to change AV1, mainly the higher level syntax, and if and when the CWG approves such changes we can publish a further update.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or concerns.

Best regards,

Adrian
