Feature Request: History of recently used custom images #29

Context

When a chooses a Custom Image from this dialog

it would be useful to have a history of previously used images.

Proposal

Some ideas to explore with this feature:

  • Store a of recently used image strings.
    • Can this history be stored in the local web session client side?
    • Can this history be associated on the server side for each JupyterHub user?
    • Can this history be shared across a hub for all users?
  • Add to history only after the image has been launched successfully
  • Include a timestamp of the last time the image was used
