Node markers that are placed on a bright background become practically invisible (and are impossible to spot on a white background). The images below show the same marker with a) a gray artboard background, and b) a white artboard background.
I'd suggest to draw markers as inverted (with a slight offset near 50% gray) so that they stay visible regardless of the background color. Alternatively markers could be drawn in a mix of black and white strokes, so that they are at least partially visible regardless of the background.
